If you’ve ever been to a movie theatre, convenience store, or amusement park, chances are you recognize the ICEE brand. But did you know the whole thing started because a soda fountain broke?

Back in 1958, Dairy Queen franchisee Omar Knedlik found himself with a freezer full of bottled sodas after his fountain stopped working. The drinks partially froze, customers loved the accidental slushy creation, and Knedlik figured he might be onto something. He eventually built his own machine using parts from a car air conditioner, turning the happy accident into a proper frozen-drink business. Fast forward a few years to 1967, and the ICEE brand was officially born.

More than six decades later, ICEE has become a fixture pretty much anywhere you might find a frozen drink machine. And while the brand now offers plenty of flavours, blue raspberry has remained one of its most recognizable (and one of our personal favourites).

This ICEE Squeeze Candy takes that familiar blue raspberry experience and skips the ice entirely. The result is a soft, squeezable candy tube with the same bold, sweet-tart flavour, just in a format you can throw in your bag and eat anywhere.

So, to sum it up: ICEE went from an accidental frozen soda to a candy you can squeeze, and we have a broken soda fountain to thank for it.
