Percy Pig is more than a candy; it's a fixture of British culture at this point.

First introduced by Marks & Spencer in 1992, Percy Pig has spent more than three decades going from a simple bag of gummy sweets to one of the most recognizable characters in the UK's confectionery aisle. He's become so closely associated with M&S that Percy Pig isn't just a candy people buy, but a little piece of the UK that tourists and locals seek out.

And the numbers back up the hype. M&S sells an estimated 16 to 20 million bags of Percy Pigs every year, which is pretty impressive considering that, early on, founder Julia Catton was reportedly told that “a pig would never work.” Clearly, Percy had other plans. There's a reason he's stuck around for so long, too. The brand has continued evolving the range while keeping the original character at the centre of it, turning Percy into the kind of nostalgic treat that British shoppers can grow up with and still come back to years later.

For years, that made Percy Pig a coveted find for anyone visiting the UK. But Percy's international story has started to change. In 2025, M&S began expanding Percy Pigs into international markets, including a nationwide rollout at Target stores across the US. It's still far from a universally available candy, especially here in Canada, but Percy is no longer strictly a UK-only find (for us Percy Pig fans, that's pretty sweet news).
